Meet the Founder
Katherine “Kathy” Jordan
Katherine Jordan is a proud South Side Chicago native, dedicated community leader, healthcare professional, and founder of Yardinpark Harmony Generations, an organization committed to strengthening communities through service, youth empowerment, senior engagement, and violence prevention.
Katherine founded Yardinpark Harmony Generations with a deep-rooted commitment to pouring into her community. Her vision is built on fostering intergenerational harmony, providing meaningful mentorship for youth, and creating safer neighborhoods where every generation can thrive together in peace.
Through faith, service, and collaboration, she is dedicated to building stronger connections that inspire hope, healing, and lasting positive change.
Professionally, Katherine serves as a Patient Care Associate at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, where she is recognized for delivering exceptional patient care. She also serves as a Preceptor, training newly hired Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Registered Nurses who are transitioning into the hospital environment, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to provide compassionate bedside care.

Beyond healthcare, Katherine's heart is rooted in community service. Her passion is creating safe spaces where youth and families feel welcomed, valued, and empowered. Through mentorship, positive programming, and meaningful community partnerships, she works alongside schools, park districts, and local organizations to provide positive alternatives, foster a sense of belonging, and encourage young people to make healthy life choices. She is also actively involved in violence prevention initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods and build hope for future generations.
One of Katherine's greatest joys is organizing free community events in local parks, bringing together residents of all ages to celebrate unity and diversity. These gatherings feature food, music, dancing, family activities, and opportunities for neighbors to connect. For Katherine, every smile shared at these events represents the power of community and the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.
Her dedication also extends to honoring senior citizens. Each month, Yardinpark Harmony Generations visits Aliya Nursing Home to host recreational bingo, serve early dinners, celebrate birthdays and holidays, and provide prizes for residents. Through these visits, Katherine and her organization remind seniors that they are seen, appreciated, and deeply valued members of the community.
Guided by faith, compassion, and a servant's heart, Katherine believes her life's work is an assignment from God. Her goal is to continue the assignment God has placed on her life by serving others, uplifting every generation, and creating opportunities for connection, hope, healing, and unity throughout the community.
